Our Top 5 Natural Beauty Products

Our Top 5 Natural Beauty Products

1. Manuka Honey

Manuka honey possesses therapeutic benefits for skin health (more than regular raw and unpasteurized honey), because of its high anti-bacterial count and anti-inflammatory properties. It’s the perfect natural skincare product for healing, hydrating, anti-aging, and preventing acne!

Raw Manuka honey is antioxidant-rich, packed with vitamins B and C, amino acids, live enzymes, zinc, copper, iron, potassium, and selenium. It also contains Hydrogen Peroxide, which kills bacteria and helps to prevent breakouts. Methylglyoxal (MG) is another component found in Manuka Honey. It comes from the conversion of another compound known as Dihydroxyacetone, which is found in the nectar of a Manuka flower. The higher the concentration of MG, the more potent the antibacterial effects are. When buying Manuka honey, look for an MGO rating of 400 or higher. “Unique Manuka Factor” (UMF) is another way to rate the quality of Manuka honey. Look for a UMF rating of 20+ for optimal skin health.

Use Manuka honey as a face mask 1-2 times per week! Spread a thin layer of Manuka honey onto a freshly cleaned, damp face. Leave on for 20 minutes and then rinse off with warm water.

2. Organika Collagen Powder

Collagen is a major component of your skin and plays a role in strengthening skin, maintaining its elasticity and hydration. As you age, your body produces less collagen, leading to dry skin and the formation of wrinkles. Several studies have shown that taking collagen supplements may help slow the aging of your skin by reducing wrinkles and dryness. How? Taking collagen supplements may help stimulate your body to produce collagen on its own, and promote the production of other proteins that help structure your skin, including elastin and fibrillin.

Make sure you are choosing a collagen supplement that is hydrolyzed. This means the collagen has been broken down, making it easier for you to absorb. Add a scoop of collagen powder into your morning smoothie, superfood latte, tea, soup, stew or bliss ball recipe.

3. Andalou Naturals Konjac Facial Sponge

Konjac sponges are made from the dried and ground root of the konjac, or a yam-like plant, that’s native to Asia. They are made by mixing Konjac powder with calcium hydroxide, heating, freezing and then drying it. A konjac facial sponge helps to increase circulation, exfoliate and cleanse pores. It’s also helpful for dry patches, acne, blackheads and eczema. Konjac naturally nourishes with vitamins A, B, C, D and E, proteins, lipids, fatty acids, copper, zinc, iron, and magnesium. Also unlike many other exfoliators, konjac is completely natural, non-toxic, and biodegradable.

Andalou Naturals konjac facial sponges contain Resverratrol Q10 and green tea – antioxidants to tone skin & support skin health. They are Non-GMO, sustainably sourced and cruelty free. To use, wet the konjac sponge with warm water until it has softened. Gently squeeze the excess water out by pressing the sponge between your palms. Apply a small amount of cleanser (if desired), or just use the sponge plain. Rub the sponge on the face in upward, circular motions.

4. Skin Essence Fresh Facial Cleanser – For All Skin Types

This all-natural skin cleanser is the perfect thing to keep your skin looking fresh & clear without drying it out! It’s made with a base of vegetable glycerin – a colorless and odorless liquid that’s produced from vegetable oils (plant oils, palm oils or coconut oils). Cleansing your skin with glycerin is one of the best ways to keep your skin sanitized and free of acne-causing bacteria. Vegetable glycerin is also a natural humectant, meaning it helps pull moisture from the air to your skin, or from the deeper levels of your skin to hydrate the surface. Witch hazel is a natural astringent which helps to remove excess oil from skin. The combination of lemongrass essential oil and peppermint essential oil give this cleanser antiseptic and astringent properties – perfect for getting even and glowing skin!

5. Way of Will – Tea Tree & Pumpkin Seed Natural Deodorant

This local Toronto based company is best known for this natural deodorant which does not contain any aluminum compounds, parabens or artificial colouring agents. In this formula, coconut oil, shea butter and kaolin clay are blended together to help absorb sweat and keep the underarm dry and comfortable. This deodorant also contains tea tree essential oil for its anti-bacterial properties and pumpkin seed oil for its anti-inflammatory properties. Remember, when switching to a natural deodorant your body needs time to adjust. If your armpit pores have been blocked daily for years there will be a lot of build-up. 2-3 weeks should give your pores enough time to flush out and start working and sweating normally again. Patience is key – give your body time to transition!
